An official press release has just landed and it’s a beauty. It’s about time too, ESPN has announced that they will be broadcasting UFC in the UK, Yes the UK and there’s more UFC 101, BJ Penn vs Kenny Florian will be broadcasting on ESPN too. We can also reveal that they will be more great news, and guess what this will be a bonus to the UK viewers. It’s about time MMA is getting more press within the UK.

My Cage always try’s it’s best to promote MMA within the UK, and with help from ESPN it’s phenomenal. Well what can I say ESPN is better than that stupid horse racing channel UFC 100 aired on. Anyways, ESPN will be broadcasting the Ultimate Fighter with none other than Internet star Kimbo Slice. This is set to launch on Monday August 3rd on Sky Channel 417 and in High Definition on Sky Channel 443. ESPN will air 5 days before UFC 101.

Jeroen Oerlemans, ESPN’s Vice President, TV Channels Europe, Middle East and Africa said:

“ESPN’s aim is to serve UK and Ireland sports fans by bringing the very best of both domestic and international live sport to their living rooms. We are delighted to add UFC, TOP 14 ORANGE, the leading French Rugby Championship, the Australia Football League, EuroBasket and DTM to our growing portfolio of live sport.”ESPN’s take: ‘Featuring the world’s elite fighters, the UFC is the fastest growing sports organization in the world. UFC athletes compete in the world-famous Octagon across five weight divisions and use a mixture of martial arts including boxing, kickboxing, Olympic wrestling, karate, Brazilian jiu-jitsu among many others.’

ESPN’s right’s to the contract enables them to air all the UFC action all around the world, beginning with UFC 101: Declaration on 8th August. UFC 101 will be a great card, with many great fighters such as Anderson Silva, Forrest Griffin, Kenny Florian and BJ Penn. And many more, but these are 2 fights that you should not miss!

Furthermore on August 29th, The one and only, Randy “The Natural” Couture will go against Antonio “Minotauro” Nogueira, these two heavyweights will go head to head at the Main event of UFC 102, which will be awesome. And that event is followed by UFC Fight Night on 16 September, headlined by Nate Diaz’s lightweight clash with Melvin Guillard. Stay tuned at My Cage for more exciting updates regarding ESPN taking over UK Coverage for MMA.
